When is the Big Youth Thing?
Thursday, August 7, 2008
How much does it cost?
The cost will be $30 per person. Now until July 21, 2008 you may purchase your tickets by mail. You may register online with a credit card at www.ystuff.org! After July 21, you will need to purchase your tickets at the gate and they will be $35.00. No exceptions, please. There will be a $12 charge for parking again this year.
What does this include?
The $30 includes admission to the park, including the water park, & concert.
Who can come?
The conference is targeted toward youth groups (middle school, junior high, high school & college) and their leaders. This will be a great event for your group to use as an evangelistic tool. Consider challenging youth to bring a friend who needs to know Christ. Youth leaders may bring their children; however, only children under 2 years of age get in free. Three year olds and up will need to pay $30 per ticket.
What will the day be like?
We are praying for sunshine. The park will open at 9:00 AM; the rides and shows will run all day. You may begin making your way to the concert around 5:00 PM. Please NOTE concert times! The rally and concert will begin at 6:00 PM.
Can we arrange for lunch?
Yes! For $17.50 per person you can have a Buffet Style Lunch which includes fried chicken, all meat hot dogs, baked beans, potato chips, rolls, chocolate chip cookies, and soft drinks. It will be held at Southside Picnic Shelter at either 11:30, 12:30, 1:30, or 2:30. Choose the time that is best for your group. Southside can accommodate 1,500 people each hour. You can fellowship and mingle with other churches. Simply pay for the lunches on your reservation form. We will send your lunch tickets/wristbands as well as Paladium and Admission tickets. Remember there is limited availability! Deadline: July 28—for advance registration $30
Can I order additional tickets if I have already placed an order?
Yes; however, you will need to submit an additional order. If you choose to purchase them online, beside your church name type the words “second order”. If you mail in a registration form with a check, beside the church name write “second order”. In all probability your first order has been filled; therefore concert seats for the second order will be in another area of the Paladium. Please make note: if you have two sets of students sitting in two different areas of the Paladium, you must have an adult sitting with both groups.
Where do we eat?
The park has many restaurants and shops, however this can be expensive. A meal will cost about $12+ (i.e. burger, fries, & drink). There are picnic facilities available for churches bring food with them. Utilize the lunch/drink wristband offer!!!
Where do I purchase my tickets the day of the event?
The SC Baptist Convention will be selling our tickets at a designated ticket booth located at the North (main) gate. Look for signs. Please note it will be better for you to purchase your tickets by mail or online by July 28, 2008.
Can I use my Season Pass?
Carowinds will accept season passes the day of the Big Youth Thing. Remember, only admission tickets purchased from the SC Baptist Convention help to provide the programming for the Big Youth Thing. This year you will be able to purchase additional Paladium tickets ($15) online or on the attached order form.
What do we wear?
It will be hot. Shorts are probably best along with comfortable shoes. Carowinds has a water park - bathing suits are required for access to the water park, but not allowed in the amusement park. T-shirts with questionable advertisements, logos or obscene gestures will not be permitted.
What if it rains?
The event will go on as scheduled. The park will make decisions in the interest of safety, but rain will not cancel the event, nor will it make you eligible for a refund.
How many people will the park hold?
The park will hold 26,000+. We have had 18,000 tickets printed.
How may tickets can we purchase?
Order as many as you need for your group. If tickets are available, they will be sold at the gate.
How does Paladium seating work?
Due to Carowinds policy, the Paladium seating is reserved. This means that seating is limited to 13,000. The sooner you order, the better your seats. After 13,000, no more Paladium tickets will be available.
How to place your order?
Send the order form and a church check made payable to the South Carolina Baptist Convention. Mail to: Youth Ministry Group, SCBC, 190 Stoneridge Drive, Columbia, SC 29210-8254. Or order online at www.ystuff.org!
How long will it take to get the tickets?
Tickets will be mailed the beginning of June. After June 14, tickets will be mailed weekly. Do not order tickets through the mail postmarked after July 21, 2008.
Do I need to order my tickets early?
YES!!! You will want to be sure we have enough for your group. We are excited about the possibility of having the largest number of SC Baptists together in one place at one time.
What if I lose a ticket?
When you receive your tickets, count them, write the numbers down and put them in a safe place. You will have 2 tickets (an admission and a Paladium) for each attendee, unless you purchase a lunch/drink wristband. Each attendee will then have 4 items. We will have to pay for every ticket we do not return to the park; therefore, if you lose a ticket, you will have to purchase another one for admission.
